OFF-ROAD DRIVERS SAVE THE LEAD WEIGHTS FOR THE GYM BY SHIFTING TO EQUAL TIRE BALANCING ADDITIVE

Money and time also saved, tread life increased by 10,000 miles or more

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. ( May 17, 2002) - For many off-road enthusiasts, the bumpy ride is supposed to end once the 4x4 hits the highway. But off-balance tires often keep this from happening.

Dusty trails are littered with lead balancing weights, scraped off by rocks or jarred loose by potholes. And even if the weights survive the workout, mud caked into treads and rims can temporarily alter the delicate balance of even the most rugged tires.

In response, many drivers are giving up on weights, turning instead to a dry granular polymer formula known as EQUAL. Placed inside the tire, either through the valve stem or dropped in before the tire is mounted, EQUAL provides a continuously smooth and balanced ride for the life of the tread.

EQUAL recently endured a round of testing by the Pennsylvania State University Center for Acoustics and Vibration. The test confirmed that EQUAL absorbs vibration at all points on the tire's circumference, applies a force downward on the tire as it moves through the footprint and reduces force variation levels at the tire/wheel assembly.

More than 3,000 tire dealers and alignment shops nationwide install EQUAL. EQUAL is installed by placing a self-opening bag, containing a specified

amount of the product tailored to the tire size, inside the tire at the time of mounting. It

can also be inserted through the valve stem for tires that are already mounted.

Because EQUAL is non-toxic and non-hazardous, it requires no special disposal and can be easily removed when a worn tire is dismounted for retreading or disposal.
