STS Concentrate Tire Sealant
1. HOW DOES STS TIRE SEALANT WORK?
STS Tire Sealant contains synthetic fibers and rubber particulates in uniform suspension throughout a fluid carrier. When a puncture occurs, the escaping air forces the carrier and fibers to the penetration making a solid permanent repair from the inside . . . out!
2. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT SEAL BEAD LEAKS?
Yes. Rim and bead leaks will also be sealed as quickly and
effectively as a puncture. Many other tire sealants are much too viscous
to seal rim and bead leaks.
3. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT SEAL SLOW POROSITY LEAKS?
Yes. Slow leaks and porosity problems with tubeless innerliners will also be sealed quickly and effectively. The special chemical formulation of STS TIRE SEALANT will condition the innerliner to prevent dry-rot and cracking which leads to chronic slow leaking tire failure. Thus, STS TIRE SEALANT will help the tire maintain a constant recommended air pressure.
4. DOES STS TIRE SEALANT MAKE A PERMANENT SEAL?
Yes. It will seal injuries caused by puncturing objects measuring
up to 3/16" (5mm) in size. However, it is not a vulcanized repair.
If the tire is dismounted to repair a large injury and the STS TIRE
SEALANT is removed, the STS TIRE SEALANT seal will need to be re-installed
to reseal those punctures.
5. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT SEAL PUNCTURES IN BOTH TUBE TYPE AND TUBELESS TIRES?
Yes. If STS TIRE SEALANT is installed before the puncture occurs. However, tube type tires cannot be repaired after a puncture and the sealing capabilities regarding the size of the puncturing object are reduced by 30%. However, if the tube is split or torn from the injury, STS TIRE SEALANT is unable to seal an injury of this nature.
6. CAN YOU REPAIR A TUBELESS TIRE THAT HAS HAD AN INJURY AND GONE FLAT?
Yes. It is not necessary to remove the tire from the rim.
Simply install the STS TIRE SEALANT through the valve stem, re-air
the tire, put the puncture at the floor level and bounce the tire
a few times to open and close the puncture which allows the sealing
fibers to seal more quickly. If it is a large tire, just roll the
tire back and forth a few times with the puncture at floor level.
Service trucks now repair flat truck tires on the highway without
removing the tire from the vehicle. They install the STS TIRE SEALANT
through the valve stem, re-air the tire with a portable tank, and
start driving the vehicle to move the STS TIRE SEALANT to the puncture.
7. CAN YOU REPAIR A TUBE TYPE TIRE THAT HAS GONE FLAT?
No. After the tire deflates the tube will slide away from the casing. Thus, the hole in the tube will no longer be lined up with the hole in the tire when it is re-aired, preventing STS TIRE SEALANT from forming a good seal.
8. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT SEAL A PUNCTURE IN A TUBE TYPE TIRE IF IT IS APPLIED BEFORE THE PUNCTURE OCCURS?
Yes, provided the tube is not split or torn from the injury. The air pressure keeps the tube in place against the casing and the hole in the tube is now lined up with the hole in the tire, which allows STS TIRE SEALANT to seal the puncture as it does a tubeless tire.
9. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT SEAL A SIDEWALL PUNCTURE?
STS TIRE SEALANT will slow down sidewall leaks but will not permanently seal due to the flex of the tire sidewall.
10. WHAT SIZE OF INJURY WILL STS TIRE SEALANT SEAL?
STS TIRE SEALANT will seal injuries up to 3/16" (5mm). However, if the structure of the tire is destroyed (i.e., sliced, etc.) it cannot seal.
11. WHAT ARE THE REASONS WHY A TIRE CONTAINING STS TIRE SEALANT WILL GO FLAT?
- (a) 95% of the cases are caused by not enough STS TIRE SEALANT installed in the tire. Refer to quantity chart.
- (b) Attempting to repair a tube type tire after it has gone flat.
- (c) If the injury to the tire is larger than 3/16" (5 mm) in diameter.
12. WHEN STS TIRE SEALANT SEALS MULTIPLE PUNCTURES IN THE SAME TIRE, IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ONE OR MORE OF THE PUNCTURES COULD "UN-SEAL" CAUSING A SUDDEN "BLOW OUT"?
No. STS TIRE SEALANT will form a permanent seal for the tread life of the tire. If the casing were to suddenly fail, STS TIRE SEALANT would help to slow escaping air.
13. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT IN ANY WAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TIRE, INNERLINER OR TUBE?
No. A major rubber company has verified the compatibility of STS TIRE SEALANT with innerliner compounds and the special chemical formulation protects the liner from degradation and keeps the liner resilient. It also protects the tube in the same manner, helping to prevent tube rot.
14. DO NEW TIRE MANUFACTURERS NEGATE THE WARRANTY ON THEIR TIRES IF YOU USE STS TIRE SEALANT?
No. Actually, STS TIRE SEALANT has passed tire compatibility testing performed by tire manufacturers.
15. CAN A PROPER PATCH REPAIR BE MADE TO A TIRE THAT HAS HAD STS TIRE SEALANT INSTALLED?
Yes. Simply remove the STS TIRE SEALANT from the area to be repaired and clean thoroughly with rubber cleaning compound.
16. WILL STS TIRE SEALANT CORRODE WHEELS AND RIMS?
No. In fact, STS TIRE SEALANT will serve as an anti-corrosive to prevent rim rust!
17. IS STS TIRE SEALANT WATER SOLUBLE?
Yes. When necessary, simply wash out STS TIRE SEALANT from the tire with water.
18. IS THERE A PRODUCT AVAILABLE TO SEAL PUNCTURES IN TIRES WEIGHTED WITH FLUIDS SUCH AS CALCIUM CONCENTRATE, WATER AND ANTI-FREEZE?
Yes. STS Calcium Concentrate is for use in fluid-weighted tires.
