How does IMI Tire Sealant work?
IMI Tire Sealant contains biodegradable fibers and recycled rubber particles in uniform suspension throughout a fluid carrier. When a puncture occurs, the escaping air forces the carrier and fibers to the penetration making a solid permanent repair from the inside . . . out!
How much sealant will I need?
Does IMI Tire Sealant make a permanent seal?
Yes. IMI Tire Sealant will seal injuries to the crown area of the tire caused by puncturing objects up to 1/4” in diameter. However, it is not a vulcanized repair. If the tire is dismounted and IMI Tire Sealant is removed, new IMI Tire Sealant will need to be installed before returning to service.
Will IMI Tire Sealant seal punctures in both tube type and tubeless tires?
Yes. In tube type tires, IMI Tire Sealant must be installed before a puncture occurs.However, tube type tires cannot be repaired after a puncture and the sealing capabilities regarding the size of the puncturing object are reduced by 30%. However if the tube is split or torn from the injury, IMI Tire Sealant is unable to seal an injury of this nature.
Can you repair a tubeless tire after an injury occurs?
Yes. Simply install the IMI Tire Sealant through the valve stem with the puncture at the 6:00 position and inflate the tire. Roll the tire back and forth or drive the equipment. With IMI Tire Sealant on service trucks, tires can be repaired on the highway without removing the tire from the vehicle.
Will IMI Tire Sealant seal a sidewall puncture?
No. IMI Tire Sealant may slow sidewall leaks but will not seal.
What size of injury will IMI Tire Sealant seal?
IMI Tire Sealant will permanently seal “nail hole” injuries up to 1/4” in diameter in the crown area of the tire.
What are the reasons why a tire containing IMI Tire Sealant will go flat?
95% of the cases are caused by not enough IMI Tire Sealant installed in the tire. Refer to the Application Chart. Alternatively, if injury to the tire is larger than 1/4” in diameter, or if you are attempting to repair a tube type tire after it has gone flat, or if there are injuries that exist outside the crown area of the tire, they could contribute to the tire going flat.
When IMI Tire Sealant seals multiple punctures in the same tire, is it possible that one or more of the punctures could "unseal"?
No. IMI Tire Sealant will form a permanent seal for the tread life of the tire.
Will IMI Tire Sealant clog valve stems when checking tire air pressure?
While it is possible for IMI Tire Sealant to clog valve hardware, it is a rare occurrence and easy to remedy. IMI Tire Sealant is designed to be drawn to the location of escaping air. Accordingly, it will be pulled into the valve stem if, for example, the tire pressure is adjusted by holding the valve open. If a blockage occurs, simply add a small amount of air to the tire– the pressure from a normal inflation procedure will clear the blockage.

Yes. Simply remove the IMI Tire Sealant from the area to be repaired and follow recommended tire repair practices.
Will IMI Tire Sealant corrode wheels and rims?
No. IMI Tire Sealant will serve as an anti-corrosive agent to prevent rim rust.
Will IMI Tire Sealant cause corrosion in high temperature applications such as waste haul?
No. IMI Tire Sealant is specially formulated with corrosion inhibitors that are effective at high temperatures. This has been repeatedly demonstrated through intensive real-world waste haul applications.
What is the boiling point of IMI Tire Sealant?
IMI Tire Sealant boils at 221˚F (105˚C) at regular atmospheric pressure. Inside a pressurized tire and wheel assembly, the boiling point of IMI Tire Sealant rises considerably. For example, at 120 psi the boiling point of IMI Tire Sealant is ~374˚F (190˚C)–well beyond extreme operating limits and the source of such heat could cause serious tire damage before reaching this temperature.
What is the freezing point of IMI Tire Sealant?
The freezing point of IMI Tire Sealant is -10˚F (-23˚C).
Is IMI Tire Sealant water soluble?
Yes. When necessary, simply wash out IMI Tire Sealant from the tire with water.
Is IMI Tire Sealant safe for disposal?
Yes. It is recommended that IMI Tire Sealant be rinsed out of the tires with plenty of water and sent down the drain to the local wastewater treatment plant. Contact your local authorities to dispose of IMI Tire Sealant in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
Can IMI Tire Sealant be reused?
No. The ingredients of IMI Tire Sealant are blended precisely to be completely effective for the tread life of one tire and safe for the environment.
Does IMI Tire Sealant contain elthylene glycol or propylene glycol?
Can ECO SEAL in a bag be installed in an unmounted tire?
Yes. Mount one bead in the drop center. Cut open bag and install the correct amount of sealant into the tire. Mount the second bead. Seat both beads and inflate the tire.
Can you use an accessory to help with ECO SEAL install?
No. It is not recommeded to use a funnel. ECO SEAL is highly viscous resulting in a slower flow. The ECO SEAL bag is designed to be opened and poured directly into the tire. It is not necessary to use another accessory.
Can ECO SEAL in a bag be installed through the valve stem?
No. However, ECO SEAL is available in the additional packaging options that would allow for installation through the valve stem: 5 gal. pail and 55 gal. drum.
What is the shelf life of IMI Tire Sealant?
The shelf life of IMI Tire Sealant is two years.
